So, I have read and reread absolutely everything Jane Austen has ever written. I decided to verge out and try some new things, mostly Jane Austen spin-offs. I found that a lot of them weren't too well written, so I decided to start reading books by authors that Jane Austen actually mentioned in her writing. I just finished Evelina by Fanny Burney and I really liked it. I am waiting for Udolpho to come so I can start that one, but I need more ideas. Help!

I also share your Jane Austen obsession and have read at least 30 books over the last few months that are "spin-offs". Here are a few ideas: "Mr Knightley's Diary" by Amanda Grange, "None But You, Frederick Wentworth, Captain" by Susan Kaye (the sequel comes out this year), "Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict" by Laurie Viera Rigler, anything by Elizabeth Aston, Stephanie Barron has a Jane Austen mystery series where she is a sleuth during her own time period, ex: "Jane and the Wandering Eye", Emma Thompson has a great and funny book "The screenplay and diaries of Sense and Sensibility", and the best series is by Pamela Aidan, "Duty and Desire", "These Three Remain", and "An Assembly Such as This". Very good. Also, "Letters from Pemberley" and "More Letters from Pemberley" were so good they made me cry. I have at least 20 more suggestions if you want them--let me know. I'm starting a book called "The Rules of Gentility" by Janet Mullany today. It says on the cover "Mullany is clearly the witty, secret love child of Jane Austen and Lord Byron" I'll let you know how it is. I just finished a book called "Sister of My Heart" by an Indian woman (can't remember her name and I've lent out my book) author set in the 1980's. It was wonderful. After that I had to watch "Bride and Prejudice" on my DVD because it's the "India" Pride and Prejudice. LOVED IT!
