Mitchell and Catherine have been so excited to go to our ward Christmas party. Why?? A gingerbread house contest and Santa. Well, tonight didn't dissapoint them. They worked very hard on their gingerbread house and had very high hopes for it (see below). They were absolutely sure that it would win and talked about it all week. I, however, had my doubts. When we arrived they put numbers beside each house for judging purposes. As luck would have it, they put a number one by ours. I took this chance opportunity to tell my kids that the #1 meant that ours was the best and we won. That would have been enough, but we actually ended up winning #1 in the primary category. The sad thing was that at the moment they announced the winner, Mitchell just happened to be in the bathroom. So, I had to accept the prize for him.
The kids were delighted with winning, but were even more excited to see Santa. When he walked into the room Catherine literally started shaking with excitement. She was all prepared to tell him that she wanted "princess clothes" and "baby Jesus" (?????) for Christmas, but once she sat on his lap she was so awe stricken that she could only just sit there and smile. She couldn't say a word. Mitchell, on the other hand, had no problem remembering what he wanted, and Santa just lacked a notepad and pen to write it all down. Anyway, we had lots of fun and the kids really loved everything.
